This little foyer was an add on at some point at my client’s home. She wanted a pretty but functional place for shoes, to sit, to store items decoratively as well as a place to hide things.

Not a huge amount of room to work.

When a built in is not the answer

Because of the configuration a built it was not the best solution and often the budget also does not allow for it either and that is ok! Many ways to achieve the solution without busting the bank.

The chair is not shown but you get the idea of the small space and how we need to hold things off of the right wall.
We added little stools for sitting and a skinny console table on this side- then a more comfy chair to put on shoes.

We got in our creative mode and put together a lovely and comfortable space that ties into the rest of the house and flows nicely from one large game room to the laundry and kitchen beyond. Furniture can be things you purchase or can be things you have- key is make it functional for you!

This piece fit the space AND the budget and gave lots of closed storage and a place for open shelving too. Now this is a pretty little space for all the mudroom storage you need without breaking the bank with a built in! And best news is that these pieces can go with you if you move!

We rather like it! What do you think?
