Farmhouse Cottage Refresh
The way a family grows together often shapes how they live, and this project was all about creating a comfortable and serene environment for a growing family. We were thrilled to help our client transform heavily trafficked areas into unified family-oriented spaces perfect for her grown children and grandchildren. Inspired by the outdoor beauty of animals and gardens, we embraced a charming farm-cottage feel for this home.
Refreshing the Kitchen
The kitchen retained its galley-style layout, which works beautifully in a narrow space, but it needed a refresh. By introducing a crisp white palette with a bright and cheery pop of color, the space now feels light, functional, and inviting. The breakfast nook, featuring a repurposed table and grasscloth wallcovering, adds a quaint touch without breaking the budget.
Durable budget-friendly flooring solutions were key to this transformation. We installed custom LVT flooring throughout, ensuring a seamless, easy-to-clean surface that’s perfect for busy family life. The new flooring ties the spaces together with a brighter, more cohesive palette, setting the stage for carefully selected furnishings.
Gathering Spaces for All Generations
The “adult” TV area, located just off the dining room, was designed with a layered and fun color palette for balance and calm. Rich wood finishes and Crypton performance fabrics ensure durability while adding a sense of sophistication. Nearby, the refreshed fireplace—complete with new tile, paint, and sconces—anchors the space beautifully.
Down the hall, the family-oriented lounge and play area accommodates both kids and adults. A large sectional and a striking sienna-orange ottoman create the perfect setup for movie nights. The adjacent children’s game and reading area is intentionally left flexible, allowing it to evolve as the grandchildren grow.
From the bright and cheerful kitchen to the cozy lounge areas, every detail of this farmhouse cottage makeover reflects a thoughtful approach to family-friendly home design.
